本論文では、鏡界反射（Kyōkai Reflection）と呼ばれる未確認現象について、心理学・神経科学・超常現象研究の観点から考察する。被験者100名に対し、長時間の鏡凝視実験を行った結果、約47%の被験者が「映像と自己の境界が曖昧になる体験」を報告し、12%が「鏡の中の存在が独自の意思を持っていた」と証言した。また、被験者の中には実験後に記憶の改変や人格変容を訴える例が見られた。
さらに、脳波測定の結果、鏡界反射の発生中に前頭葉の活動が低下し、側頭葉の特定領域（特に自己認識に関与する右側頭頭頂接合部）が異常活性することが確認された。これは、意識が通常の自己像認識から解離し、何らかの外部要因（鏡の中の「別の自己」）による干渉を受けている可能性を示唆する。
加えて、歴史的な記録（16世紀の魔術書『Speculum Tenebrarum』や19世紀の心理学報告）においても、鏡に映る自己像と実在の自己の入れ替わりに関する事例が散見される。本研究は、鏡界反射が単なる視覚的錯覚ではなく、意識の境界に作用する未解明の現象である可能性を示唆し、そのさらなる研究の必要性を提言する。
考察と今後の研究：
本研究の結果は、意識と自己認識の限界に関する新たな視点を提供するとともに、「鏡像」という単なる物理的反射が持つ潜在的な影響についての議論を促すものである。今後は、より詳細な神経科学的分析および長期的な影響の観察を行い、鏡界反射が個人の意識や記憶にどのような変容をもたらすのかを解明する必要がある。
また、特定の条件下（例：暗闇での観察、特定の精神状態）で現象が強調される可能性についても調査を進める予定である。
This paper discusses the unidentified phenomenon known as Kyōkai Reflection (Kyōkai Reflection) from the perspective of psychology, neuroscience and paranormal research. As a result of a prolonged mirror-staring experiment on 100 subjects, approximately 47% reported an experience in which the boundary between the image and the self became blurred, and 12% testified that the presence in the mirror had a unique intention. In addition, some subjects reported memory alterations and personality changes after the experiment.
Furthermore, EEG measurements confirmed that during the onset of the mirror field reflection, activity in the frontal lobe decreased and certain areas of the temporal lobe (particularly the right temporoparietal junction, which is involved in self-recognition) became abnormally active. This suggests that consciousness may dissociate from normal self-image perception and be subject to interference by some external factor (the ‘other self’ in the mirror).
In addition, there are scattered examples in the historical record (the 16th century magic book Speculum Tenebrarum and 19th century psychological reports) of the replacement of the self-image in the mirror with the real self. The present study suggests that mirror field reflection may not be a mere visual illusion, but an unexplored phenomenon that acts on the boundaries of consciousness, and suggests the need for further research on the subject.
Discussion and future research:
The results of this study provide new perspectives on the limits of consciousness and self-knowledge and stimulate discussion on the potential impact of the mere physical reflection of a ‘mirror image’. Future work should include more detailed neuroscientific analyses and observations of long-term effects to elucidate how mirror field reflections can alter an individual’s consciousness and memory.
The possibility that the phenomenon is accentuated under certain conditions (e.g. observation in the dark, certain mental states) will also be investigated.
